Shoulder Pain Care in Pembroke Pines

The shoulder trades stability for range of motion, which is why it is so useful and so easy to irritate. Reaching a top shelf, sleeping on one side or throwing a ball can all become the thing you avoid.

The shoulder blade, mid-back and neck all influence how the joint moves, so we examine the whole region rather than the sore spot alone.

Typical complaints

  • Pain on the outside of the arm when lifting overhead
  • Trouble sleeping on the affected side
  • Weakness reaching behind the back or into a jacket sleeve
  • Clicking or catching through part of the range
  • Stiffness that has been quietly getting worse for months

Common contributors

  • Rotator cuff tendon irritation from repetitive overhead work
  • Poor shoulder blade control on the rib cage
  • Restricted mid-back extension limiting overhead reach
  • Neck joint irritation referring pain into the shoulder

This page is general information, not a diagnosis. An exam is how we determine what applies to you.

How we approach shoulder pain

  1. 1

    Test the whole chain

We examine the shoulder, shoulder blade, mid-back and neck, because pain felt at the shoulder is not always generated there.

  2. 2

    Restore motion

Joint work and soft tissue treatment target what is genuinely restricted — often the mid-back as much as the shoulder itself.

  3. 3

    Load the cuff

Rotator cuff and scapular strengthening is progressive and specific, since tendons respond to graded load rather than rest alone.

Questions we get asked

Is this a rotator cuff tear?
The exam distinguishes irritation from a significant tear reasonably well. Where findings suggest a tear, we discuss imaging and referral.
Why does my shoulder hurt at night?
Side-lying compresses irritated tendon and bursa. Adjusting sleep position often reduces night pain while the tissue calms down.
Should I stop lifting?
Usually we modify rather than stop — changing range, grip or load often lets you keep training while the shoulder settles.
