Hip Pain Care in Pembroke Pines
Where hip pain is felt tells us a lot. Groin pain usually points to the joint itself; pain on the outer hip more often involves tendon and bursa; deep buttock pain frequently involves the low back or pelvis.
Because the hip and low back share so much, we assess both before deciding what to treat.
How hip pain presents
- Pinching in the groin when squatting or getting into the car
- Outer hip tenderness that makes side-sleeping painful
- Stiffness after sitting that eases after the first few steps
- Aching in the buttock during longer walks
- A limp or shortened stride you did not notice until someone mentioned it
Common contributors
- Hip joint restriction and loss of internal rotation
- Gluteal tendon irritation on the outer hip
- Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
- Weak hip abductors changing how you load each step
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. An exam is how we determine what applies to you.
How we approach hip pain
- 1
Separate hip from back
Specific testing determines whether the joint, the tendons or the low back is producing the pain — they are treated differently.
- 2
Free up the joint
Mobilization, adjusting and soft tissue work address restriction in the hip and pelvis.
- 3
Strengthen what carries you
Glute and hip strengthening restores control through the stance phase of walking, which is where most hip pain gets provoked.
Questions we get asked
- Could my hip pain actually be coming from my back?
- Often, yes. Deep buttock and outer-thigh pain in particular can originate in the lumbar spine, which is why both are examined.
- Is stretching the hip helpful?
- Sometimes. When the tendon on the outer hip is irritated, aggressive stretching can compress it further, so we choose based on your findings.
- What about hip arthritis?
- Arthritic hips often still respond to mobility and strength work. Where a joint has advanced degeneration, we say so and coordinate with your physician.
